a watercolor show
The show runs from
May 3 through May 30.

the Third Thursday Event at Gallery Uptown, this Thursday, May 19, at
7:00 pm.
In conjunction with the water media exhibit “Water, Paint, and Brush”,
nationally known watercolorist and Gallery Uptown member, Sandy Meyer, will present a
watercolor demonstration. Sandy will also discuss the traditional
methods of creating with watercolors, and why watercolors are often
considered to be the most challenging of painting mediums. All are

Catherine McClung
has been selected for the world's most
prestigious "Birds in Art" exhibition at the
Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. Her entry
of a watercolor painting of a Yellow-shafted
Flicker, "Woodland Woodpecker", was selected
from a field of 957 artworks submitted by
artists from around the world. This is the 36th
year that the Wausau, Wisconsin museum has
hosted this avian exhibition. The exhibition, of
both paintings and sculpture, opens to the
public September 10th, 201.

has one piece in the Kalamazoo Institute for the
Arts show (sold) - "Ivory Tower" and he
installed a commissioned wall sculpture last
month at Raymond James Associates in Muskegon -
“Optimistic Progression” polychrome wood 96 X 51

Painting and Drawing Classes with Rob Michmerhuizen
Rob Michmerhuizen has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and for over 30
years has offered professional instruction in drawing and painting. Each
class meets weekly and is limited to five students. Study consists of
still life, landscape and figures in charcoal, graphite and acrylic
paints. Drawing supplies are furnished. The weekly rate is $20.00 per
student for each two hour lesson. Individual help in a pleasant,
informal atmosphere. Beginners are welcome. For further information call

THE NUVEEN CENTER
will be hosting an automobile-themed exhibition from
June 2 through July 30 entitled The Car Show. We would love
YOU to be a part of it! Each artist may submit up to two
pieces of artwork created in any media. There is no entry
fee for this exhibition.

OPPORTUNITY FOR ARTISTS Julie Myrmel and a colleague, Diane Zoellmer, have
created a website to promote artists in west Michigan -
wmartists.wordpress.com . On the site
they are including interviews with artists, information
about local galleries and museums, and podcasts and
videos. They are also offering their services to help
artists create an online presence. Fees are dependent on
the level of support that is requested by the artist.
There is no cost, however, for an artist to be featured
on their blog. If you are interested in being
featured on the blog or would like to learn more about
the services they are providing, please contact Julie
